Barrick's Pascua-Lama costs rise again, shares dive
TORONTO (Reuters) – Barrick Gold Corp reported a sharp drop in third-quarter profit on Thursday, nudged back the production date for its massive Pascua-Lama gold and silver mine and increased its estimate on costs. Shares of the world’s top gold miner dropped more than 9 percent after Barrick delayed the mine’s start date to the second half of 2014 from a previous target of mid 2014. Starbucks raises full-year forecast on strong sales
(Reuters) – Starbucks Corp reported higher quarterly profit on Thursday, as overall sales at its established coffee shops topped analysts' estimates, and it raised its forecast for fiscal 2013. The world's biggest coffee chain's net income was $359 million, or 46 cents per share, for the fiscal fourth-quarter ended September 30, slightly up from $358.5 million, or 47 cents per share a year earlier. Starbucks set its new earnings per share forecast for fiscal 2013 in the range of $2.06 to $2.15, up from $2.04 to $2.14 per share previously. …
Crescent Point to buy Ute Energy for $784 million
(Reuters) – Crescent Point Energy Corp said on Thursday it will buy privately held oil and gas producer Ute Energy Upstream Holdings LLC for $784 million in cash. Crescent Point will also assume about $77 million of Ute’s debt, it said. Ute has current production of about 7,800 barrels of oil equivalent per day. (Reporting by Shounak Dasgupta in Bangalore)

Greek publisher acquitted in privacy case
A magazine publisher was acquitted on Thursday of breaching privacy laws by printing a list allegedly naming Greeks with bank accounts in Switzerland. The list has touched off a fierce debate in the nearly bankrupt country after governments failed to use it to check for possible tax evasion by rich depositors.
